Incident Handler at 2nd Cyber Defense Unit

The Swedish Armed Forces are in an expansion phase and on a comprehensive growth journey. The Armed Forces' cyber defense is an integral part of military defense and constitutes a military strategic resource. Cyber defense has the capability to conduct offensive and defensive cyber operations as well as to detect, identify, and counter threats from the most qualified actors. The effects of a cyber attack can have consequences for critical societal functions as severe as a conventional armed attack.

The 2nd Cyber Defense Unit is part of the Armed Forces' capability for armed combat in the cyber domain. We defend the Armed Forces' command support systems through both proactive reconnaissance activities and reactive management of IT security incidents. Our sophisticated adversaries have significant resources and high competence, which places high demands on us to protect the systems. The 2nd Cyber Defense Unit conducts cyber operations around the clock, year-round to protect Sweden and our allies. Main Responsibilities

As an incident handler at the 2nd Cyber Defense Unit, your main tasks will be to participate in and eventually lead incident handling investigations, as well as to improve and develop methodologies and techniques. You will be part of a competent team where you, together with others, will solve the task of defending the Armed Forces' IT systems, which means you need to have a high degree of personal maturity as well as a good balance between humility and integrity. We see that you are motivated by learning new things, value good collaboration, and can prioritize your work effectively. Personal training and skill development are given ample space as the work area is both knowledge-intensive and constantly changing.

Qualifications

  • High school education in IT/computer science or other relevant education deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Several years of work experience in complex IT environments
  • Driver's license B

Good knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

  • Windows disk and memory forensics
  • Linux disk and memory forensics
  • Network forensics
  • Log analysis
  • Static and dynamic analysis of malware
  • Reverse engineering

Desirable

  • Cyber soldier training
  • Completed military service
  • Experience in programming/writing scripts
  • A solid understanding of networks and basic protocols
  • Conducted security reviews
  • Performed penetration tests

Other Requirements

You should not disclose that you have applied for a position at the 2nd Cyber Defense Unit to anyone other than those directly involved. For employment with the Armed Forces, Swedish citizenship is required. Employment entails national and international duty to serve. The position has combat status, which means you must be able to handle and use weapons. This training will be provided by us. A security clearance with a background check will be conducted prior to employment. The selection process will be supplemented with psychological tests.

Employment type: Permanent, 6-month probationary period applies for those who are not currently employed by the Armed Forces.
